5 Stages
Stage 1 Ski/Board
Description-
The start is on top of a ridge with about a 200m dash for your skis or board. From there it is how can get the fastest down the track first anyway you can. The fastest way seams to be just follow the groomed track the whole way, there can be a lot of people on a small track so you have to watch it, there has been a lot of people taken out on this leg before.
Stage 2 Downhill MTB
Description-
This leg is fast and muddy most of the way down, it also can be very rutted in places. There is a lot of turns down the access road, and there is a big drop on the right side with not much railing so watch that. Once you get to the bottom of the access road you come on to 4km of sealed flat road over the Kawara Bridge and then down on to the Frankton beach to transition 3 into the kayak.
Stage 3 Kayak
Description-
The kayak starts at the Frankton Beach, and heads up the Frankton Arms towards Queenstown the only things to note for this leg is, keep your line and be prepared for ruff sea’s if a windy day, and watch the big rocks around the Queenstown point as they can come out of no were.
Stage 4 Run
Description-
This run is slightly uphill most of the way but it is sealed & gravel footpath the whole way. You start right in town and heads out towards gorge road where it starts heading up, you follow the road all the through Arthur’s point and finishes with a bit of a steep hill, at the Coronet Hotel to the last transition to the bike.
Stage 5 Up Hill Bike
Description-
This is uphill 95 percent of way, there maybe 3 spots where you get some flat to ride otherwise it is very steep some people use mountain bike because of there low gearing and some use road bikes its up to the rider what they go up in. If you are using a road bike try going up before you race. You follow the access road all the way to the top where the cafe is where you then run up the stairs to the finish.
